Christopher Stonebanks

APBU response on Stonebanks termination

The APBU is aware of the action taken by the Administration of Bishop’s University against Dr. Christopher Darius Stonebanks and is in communication with him about the way forward.  The APBU is gravely concerned about this action taken and the underlying issues of procedural fairness, the right to a safe workplace free from discrimination, notably racial discrimination, and reprisal, and the right to academic freedom. We are continuing to work with Dr. Stonebanks and legal representation to ensure the rights of Dr. Stonebanks and all members are respected and upheld.

Regards,

APBU Executive

Parliamentary committee proceedings – National Assembly of Québec

Dear Members,

As we all know, the Quebec government has now tabled pension reform legislation for universities. The APBU, having carefully examined Bill 75, decided to respond to several concerns over this proposed Bill.  This month the APBU submitted a report to the Commission de l’économie et du travail (CET) outlining our major concerns over this proposed legislation, and proposing changes to address these concerns.

On February 18th the APBU, represented by Ginny Stroeher and Francis-Carl Rivard (APBU actuary), met with the CET to present our key concerns and to answer questions that MNAs had around our submitted report. I’ve attached a copy of this report here, (or word document) and below is a link to our meeting with the CET at the National Assembly.

 Respectfully,

Ginny Stroeher – President, APBU
